Plant fruit trees and bushes in Bristol Parks

When parks and open spaces have scheduled new tree planting, why not put in apple/pear/plum/cherry trees etc so that people have free access to the fruit?
This could be informal - with the odd tree planted in the corner of small parks - or on a larger scale "Community Orchards" could be created.
Why the contribution is important
If people were able to pick fruit from their local city park or open space it would reduce air miles on imported fruit, reduce packaging and hopefully also help out bee and insect populations.
People love going out picking blackberries, why not broaden the types of free fruit available to them?!

There is a great deal of land in the city which could be planted with fruit and nut trees. grass verges, parks, council office grounds.
