Litter Warden

That we need to dedicate resources to ensure Bristol is kept clean. We need to enforce rules around littering and spitting in public. This would involve employing litter Wardens giving them powers to fine people. However, these Wardens must be given the necessary training in customer services and dealing with conflicts and not to be too officious about their duties.  Before introducing Wardens we would need to consult and advertise what we are proposing to do. We could talk to kids and young people about civic pride and what it means.

Why the contribution is important

Quite often it is the little things we do that makes a difference. The lasting impression I have of Toronto when I visited it 25 years ago was how clean it was. I would like to see the same for Bristol. By people seeing the steps we are taking to keep Bristol clean, it would be a 'massive' statement towards our intentention in making Bristol a great place to live. I am not being religious here but I like the saying: Cleanlinness is next to Godliness

This is a great idea. Take a look at College Green, for example, on a sunny day and see all the horrible litter. I often wonder what visitors to beautiful Bristol think about it.
